On the anniversary of 9/11, UMass Boston went into crisis mode after reports of shots fired prompted a sweeping police response and campus evacuation. Students fled buildings, dorms were searched room by room, and nearby Boston College High went into lockdown. By 4:50 PM, police declared no shots were fired. The incident, a false alarm, is under investigation by state police.
